ROUND 2 - DAYS 15, 16, 17, 18, 19 & 20

Ohhhh how crazy my life is right now....

I have just been more busy than you could imagine... but don't you worry, I have still been at my challenge. With only ten days left and the craziest schedule ahead of me, I know I will not accomplish alot of the tasks I originally set for myself, but I am going to try my absolute best to finish as many of them as possible. This may be the longest blog entry ever, but at least I have still stuck to it. I cannot complain about how busy my life has become because it is filled with all of the things I have been desiring for years. I am volunteering my services to a band consisting of a few of my local friends and I. I do not get paid for my services, but the experience and growth I am receiving from the opportunity far outweighs any financial payment I could receive! AND ALSO!!! My friends posted their music video that I helped out with and I am really happy with how it turned out! It was so much fun and I was so happy to help them! Click the link below to check it out!

DAILY PRACTICE REPORTS
        Day 15 - 3 1/2 hours of Band Practice
Day 16 - 40 mins Head & Chest Voice Exercises - Brett Manning's 'Mastering Mix' CDs
        Day 17 - 2 1/2 hours of Band Practice
        Day 18 - 45min Warm Up/Vocal Exercises + 3 x 45min Set Live Band Performance
        Day 19 - 30min Warm Up/Vocal Exercises + 3 x 45min Set Live Band Performance
Day 20 - Vocal Rest Day required after such a heavy week of singing and with another heavy vocal week approaching.

PERSONAL TRAINING SESSION #5
2hr Session w/ Amir - 15min Cardio Warm Up on the Bike then various weight exercises focussing on my hips. Finishing off w/ some bicep exercises & a neck massage!

PERSONAL TRAINING SESSION #6
1hr 30min Session w/ Amir - 10min Cardio Warm Up on the Cross Trainer then 80mins Boxing training.

CHARITABLE DEED / RANDOM ACT OF KINDNESS #3
Day 17 -  I donated $10 to a local street musician on Orchard Rd in Singapore. He is blind and sits in this subway strip in the same position for approximately 10-12hours per day. He is blind, plays the keyboard, sings and has tamborines attached to his feet. He sings chinese music and although does not have the most amazing skill or talent, he is still out there doing his thing and spreading the joy of music.

CHARITABLE DEED / RANDOM ACT OF KINDNESS #4
Day 17 - On the same day whilst shopping on Orchard Rd with my friends, we passed an old heavily disabled uncle in a wheel chair who makes his income by selling small packets of tissues all day to the general public for $1 per packet. I passed him $10 and wished him a wonderful day and took no merchandise in return. I also put another $10 into the donation hat as we passed a group of young locals who were displaying there skills with soccer balls. It may seem like alot to have passed out $30 in one day to people on the street, but as far as I see it, we were spending the day out shopping on selfish luxuries like clothing and material things. I could easily spare a little extra cash for those who are out working for their money because I would not have hesitated to spend that money on something I didn't really need.

CHARITABLE DEED / RANDOM ACT OF KINDNESS #5
Day 20 - Today I made a $50 donation as a sponsorship for my uncle Tyler who is so inspiringly riding in a cycling team that plan to ride 504km in 24hrs to raise funds for Huntington's Disease. Not only is this an amazing task on it's own, my uncle Tyler was involved in an accident a little while back when he was knocked off his bike by a car and quite badly injured. It is so wonderful to see him recovering so well and taking on such amazing challenges. GO TYLER!!

LIVE VOCAL PERFORMANCES #3 & #4
Day 18 & 19 - My band performed 3 x 45min sets on both Friday and Saturday night at a local venue. I shared approx. half the songs with the male singer. I learnt on Friday night just how much an uncomfortable pair of shoes can affect the quality of your performance. That was such a shame because I love my thigh high boots so much, but they are definitely not made for dancing and jumping around in. I feel I am growing so much as a performer at these performances I am volunteering at. It is such a blessing and is making my life here in Singapore so much more fulfilling and I feel more inspired and enlightened as a person.

HEALTH CONSCIOUS MEAL #15
My usual Ham, Lettuce, Tomato & Mayo Sandwich.

HEALTH CONSCIOUS MEAL #16
A Granola Bar  w/ a banana & a few strawberries!

HEALTH CONSCIOUS MEAL #17
Steamed Salmon, Spinach w/ Olive Oil & Balsamic & an Orange

ROUND 2 - DAY 14

Almost at the halfway point again!...

Time is flying by and I seem to be managing to get most of it done. I have decided that the one exception to the rules that I will give myself is the 3 dance classes. I am so pressed for time as it is and as much as I would love to do the dance classes, I should really be taking that time to study, so if I fit some classes in, then great, but I am going to make the mature decision to put my studies first for now so that I have the right priorities.

DAILY PRACTICE REPORT
30mins Vocal Exercises on my lunch break at work + 15mins 'Look At Me Now' Practice

CHARITABLE DEED / RANDOM ACT OF KINDNESS #2
My random act of kindness today was very random indeed. Two of my colleagues/chaperones from work were in the line behind me buying their breakfast and I decided to pay for it for them. They were both surprised and very grateful and when they asked me why I was doing it I said "just because I love working with you guys!" and I think they really appreciated it. Giving without expecting anything in return is one of the best feelings.

BODY CONDITIONING / FITNESS SESSION #4
        20mins Run into 20mins Walk - 5.43km
        10mins Ab Workout

HEALTH CONSCIOUS MEAL #13
My usual 4 egg whites w/ Oatmeal + flaxseed + strawberries + vanilla essence & Jasmine Tea

HEALTH CONSCIOUS MEAL #14
Miso Soup & a Navel Orange! :)

ROUND 2 - DAY 12 & 13

Another two bite the dust...

Another two days have passed and my life is busier than ever. I am somewhat struggling to keep up with how jam packed my days are but I am still soldiering on. I am determined to see this second round to the end. I am fitting in as much as I can where I can but still I definitely stressing about my studies as I am falling very behind and I seem to just be getting busier and busier but I want to succeed with my study. I want to prove to myself that I can complete the certification. With that being said, let's get this entry done so I can continue to study!...

DAILY PRACTICE REPORT
Day 12 - 15mins Vocal Warm Up/Exercises before performance and I included the songs sung whilst performance as the rest of my practice.
Day 13 - I had a migraine last night from my neck pain and did not complete any vocal practice. I will have to make myself do a minimum of 1 hour practice tomorrow to make up for it... :(

LIVE PERFORMANCE #2

A friend of mine Roze was unwell so I went down and covered for her at a band performance on the beach. It was so much fun. There was this large group of really young children that were just so cute and so fun to play for. They sat right in front of the stage and watched us perform and even made me a sign before they left as you can see in the pictures above. The gig itself was challenging but also great fun. I had to play around with harmonies a little and I also was made to use the egg shakers. That was a first for me and I will definitely have to work on doing that more.

PERSONAL TRAINING SESSION #4
I had another session with Amir. This time it was 1 1/2 hours and we did circuit training for legs. He was great because I am having a lot of trouble with my neck injury at the moment and he altered our training session to avoid anything that used my upper body so that I was still able to train. It was challenging but definitely motivating to push myself in new ways.

BONUS ACHIEVEMENT; ACTING IN A FILM CLIP

Some Malay friends of mine were filming their film clip for their 'originals' band 'Tujuh' which means 'Seven' in malay and the song title is 'Gila' which means 'Crazy'. I volunteered to go down and help out by playing a 'band judge' and represented the character of 'Vanity'. It was filmed in the theatre of a local school and you can see a photo above of the stage and of the other two judges and I. I have never really acted at all before so it was great to jump out of my comfort zone and try something new! I can't wait to see the end result!...

HEALTH CONSCIOUS MEAL #12
Just a little fruit for breakfast in the cab on the way to work :P

Definitely a jam packed day full of progress with my challenge. I also managed to get a small amount of study done also but there is still so much more to do and catch up on. Equal and fair treatment for all. Please see the website below if you would like to get involved!

ROUND 2 - DAY 10

Another day has passed...

I am not too sure where the time is going lately. There is so much I need to do and so many other things just seem to be coming up. I have definitely taken a little too much on board because my studies are suffering severely and I need to knuckle down and find a way to catch up because if I don't very soon it will be too late and I will have wasted me money because I will not possibly be able to complete my course in time. Time to prioritise and organise...!

DAILY PRACTICE REPORT
       45mins Song Practice

ROUND 2 - DAYS 7, 8 & 9

I have just been so busy...

With all that I have on my plate at the moment, I have still been following my challenge, I just have been running out of time to write my blog posts these past few days. I am not too happy with myself over it and I will have to make sure it doesn't happen again. But it is all a learning curve I guess and I can't always be perfect.

PROFESSIONAL PHOTO SHOOT #1

I had a photo shoot today with the very talented Qashrul Hidafi. This is my second photo shoot with him and it was just an absolute blast. We had such a great time laughing and messing around. The weather was not how we had planned in order for us to shoot at the beach because it was raining, so we decided to do the shoot at my condo in the pools and also in my apartment. It worked out perfectly because the white walls in my house made it look like a studio shoot. I always have such a great time shooting with Qashrul. He is so open to my crazy costuming ideas. I can't wait to shoot with him again!

ROUND 2 - DAY 6

Another day has passed...

I did not get a whole lot completed regarding the challenge today as I had to work all day, catch up on my studies and then I had band practice. I am struggling still to catch up on my studies so I will have to make a conscious effort to work hard on it this week.

ROUND 2 - DAY 5

I'm just loving life right now...

The challenge is going quite well so far and I am starting to get some really positive feedback and comments about the changes in my body from my friends and colleagues which has been a welcomed changed from the negative ones I had been getting seeing I live and work in Asia. It is motivating me to push forward and to push harder.

DAILY PRACTICE REPORT
        30mins Song Practice
Songs Practiced: Look At Me Now (Rap)

PERSONAL TRAINING SESSION #2
2hrs Personal Training Session w/ Amir
Oh my lord! Today was the hardest session with him so far. We did an intense leg circuit workout and then finished with arms. I was a little loopy by the end of it because I have never pushed my body that hard before but I loved it. It was awesome. Every time I get through a workout like that it motivates me to push harder and do more because at the time I wasn't sure how I was going to complete it but after it's over you are like 'Hell yeah! I did that!' :P

ROUND 2 - DAY 4

Progress already!...

Only a few days in and things are already under way! I was so fortunate tonight to receive some amazing compliments from other musicians I know. They discussed with me how much my voice has improved and my style, presence and confidence also. It is so motivating to get such positive feedback from people who not only know what they are talking about, but who also have had the chance to see me perform since the very beginning here in Singapore and have supported me so greatly along the way.

DAILY PRACTICE REPORT
        45min Vocal Exercises
Today I followed the 45 minute exercise/warm up CD my singing teacher made for me in order to warm up for my performance tonight.

LIVE PERFORMANCE #1

A couple of quick videos and a very quick snapshot from my performance tonight. I had the joy of playing alongside my friend Dennis. As always, I am not allowed to be paid for any performing I do due to the restrictions of my employment, but I don't mind because I am doing it for the love of it :)

HEALTH CONSCIOUS MEAL #6

ROUND 2 - DAY 3

I can't believe 3 days have passed already...

It's amazing how much time flies when you are enjoying what you are doing. I seriously thought today was day 2! Hahaha. It was a great day for me today. I did SO much singing practice and I spent my evening shopping for my outfit for my first upcoming photo shoot and then making things for it. Hopefully it will all come together nicely and look cool. I also had the chance to skype with my gorgeous parents today and show them how my 'Look At Me Now' rap song is coming alone. It was definitely not as impressive as one could have hoped but I have definitely come a long way since the first attempt!...

DAILY PRACTICE REPORT
4 hours Song Practice + another 1 hour Song Practice

GUITAR PRACTICE SESSION #1
        40mins Guitar Practice
I worked on songs from my 4 Chord lesson book. For those of you that don't me, I am basically an absolute beginner and I am not yet able to play a single song. Maybe by the end of this challenge I will be able to!!

HEALTH CONSCIOUS MEAL #4

HEALTH CONSCIOUS MEAL #5

...DAILY INSPIRATION...
I have come to realise that one of the only things that has been standing in my way is myself and my own fear of failure. I have realised that I have been holding myself back and it is now MY time to shine and to live life to the fullest. I am taking steps now towards dreams I was too scared to even acknowledge I wanted now because I was already failing by never trying and never pushing myself. What would you attempt to do if you knew you could not fail?

ROUND 2 - DAY 2

Getting back in the swing...

It's hard to get back into the swing of this whole challenge after a break but it's excited to think of what the future could bring if I follow this challenge

DAILY PRACTICE REPORT
        35mins Song Practice
Songs Practiced; Look At Me Now, Marry You, Love You Like A Love Song, Last Friday Night (TGIF), Hey Ya, I'll Be

PERSONAL TRAINER SESSION #1
        2hrs 15mins - Strength Training - Shoulders
Amir murdered me today. The workout was so intense and so focussed on one area. As challenging as it was, I actually find it empowering to push my limits. It's not often that you realise how much easier the mind can give up and make you think you have had enough, when all it takes is to push through it and you can see what you are really made of.

...DAILY INSPIRATION...
Before I came across the idea for this challenge, I was wondering how I would ever find a way to motivate myself and how I was going to push myself. I never expected to do something like this (let-alone twice!) and it has been the biggest unexpected blessing to my life. In one month alone, I achieved things I had said that I was WANTING to do for so long. I am dying to see where this next month takes me...

ROUND 2 - THE RULES

THE RULES

For those of you who have not already seen my first 30 days challenge... As a singer, your voice is not just the instrument, YOU are the instrument. The better you feel not only technically, but also physically and mentally, the more capable you are of giving a great performance. I originally 'borrowed' most of these rules from the Broadway Dance Centre's famous "Full-Voice Challenge" and tailored it suit my own needs and requirements in order to push myself towards becoming not only a more skilled and confident performer, but also a happier and healthier person. ROUND 1 was so successful for me that I decided I wanted to do a ROUND 2. I have changed up the rules this time so that I stay inspired and motivated and so I can ensure that I continue to grow and continue to learn!

DAY 30

30 Days is up!...

I can't believe I made it! The 30 days passed by so quickly and I am hungry for more... But for now I have decided I need to take a short break to catch up on my studies for my Personal Trainer certification before I can continue with my challenge. Cassidy's 30 Day Voice Challenge - Round 2 will be starting in the very near future... but for now, I need to be a good girl and study!! This has been the most amazing journey already and I have accomplished so much in just 30 days. I completed all of the tasks in the challenge except for 1 vocal session and 2 fitness sessions. I planned to complete them today but I was just far too exhausted and not well so I had to just take it for what it was and focus on my achievements already. All in all I am very proud of my progress and my dedication over the past month. I can't wait for the next round so I can push myself even more!

DAILY PRACTICE REPORT
        30 mins Song Practice
Songs Practiced; Ombak Rindu (Malay)
There is a new popular malay song that my friends have asked me to learn. It is such a nice song and it is challenging to learn seeing I don't understand or recognise the words but I am enjoying it very much and am excited to be able to perform it one day.

CHARITABLE DEED #5
As my final act of kindness for this round, I wanted to do something that was somewhat related to performing. After alot of thinking I realised that it really does not have to involve money to make someones day... I decided that performers are generally quite insecure and any positive feedback or encouragement is usually appreciated more than anyone could know. So, for my 5th charitable deed I decided to write all of the fellow performers in my greenroom an individual letter each about the great things I think of them and their performance. I have had endless genuine thank you's and it was such a rewarding feeling to have made people feel special and important, even if only for a moment.

BODY CONDITIONING / FITNESS SESSION #18
        45min Zumba Exhilarate

...DAILY INSPIRATION...

Most of all I just want to send out a huge thank you to all of you who have taken the time to read my blog and who have given me your support and encouragement. I also wish the best of luck to my fellow challenge participants for their final few days in the challenge. Make every day count... :)

DAY 29

Only one day left!...

Today was such a productive day! I may just get everything done in time! Time to write the new rules for day 31-60!...

DAILY PRACTICE REPORT
        20mins Vocal Exercises
        40mins Song Practice
50mins of Song Practice & Recording YouTube Cover
Songs Practiced; Set Fire To The Rain, Slipping Away, Someone Like You, You Oughta Know, Ordinary People, Killing Me Softly

MY FIRST OFFICIAL YOUTUBE COVER!!!
Well here it is... my first official YouTube cover! It's very nerve wracking for me to do this because it does leave you feeling rather vulnerable... It's just you, the music and the camera and you are exposing yourself to an unlimited cyber audience that is full of both criticism and compliments... Unfortunately my video camera wasn't very consistent in the sound levels as it would pick up on my voice more in the louder areas and then in the softer parts the track's volume would increase. Either way I am pretty have with this as my first attempt and it has motivated me to definitely want to do more! This song really hits home for me and I feel it is such a greatly expressive song to sing. Hopefully you like it...

DANCE CLASS #4 - JAZZ
Once again I ended up at the Jazz class I took recently at Jitterbugs Swingapore. It was once again very basic but I am definitely enjoying the chance to work on my technique and push myself in a style that is completely opposite to what I am used to.

DANCE CLASS #5 - LYRICAL JAZZ
After the Jazz class, I stayed for the Lyrical Jazz class which was definitely a great deal more challenging. The teacher's choreography was very technical and classical, which is completely not up my alley but I am definitely glad I went and it helped me to learn some great new things! I can't believe I have actually been to 5 dance classes in the last month... I can't remember the last dance class I attended before this challenge.

CHARITABLE DEED #4
I got the idea for this off the internet and I thought it was actually pretty cool. I left a note on the vending machine in my condo with the exact change for a drink attached to it for someone to find and to enjoy a drink on me for free and to remind them they matter. I hope I managed to brighten someone's day...

HEALTH CONSCIOUS MEAL #29
One of my usual protein shakes... Oatmeal, natural peanut butter, flax seed, agavae nectar, vanilla protein, milk and cinnamon.

HEALTH CONSCIOUS MEAL #30
Lunch was a delicious sandwich/burger... 2 slices of ezekiel bread, tomato, lettuce, cooked onion, tomato sauce & a veggie patty... Ohhh so good!

...DAILY INSPIRATION...

DAY 28

The 30 days is almost up...

With only a few days left of my initial 30 day challenge, I have definitely decided to extend my challenge to 60 days at this stage and therefore, it's time for me to re-write the rules and make them fresh for the next 30 days. I will be posting my new rules on day 30!!! For now it is still time for me to focus on completing the tasks for the first portion of the 30 days.

DAILY PRACTICE REPORT
30mins Song Practice - Slipping Away

BODY CONDITIONING / FITNESS SESSION #17
        45mins Cardio @ My Condo's Gym
I spent 20 minutes on the cross trainer on intervals upto level 10 and then spent 25 minutes on the treadmill varying between running at between 9.0-10.0 and walking on 6.0 with an incline of 5.0-10.0.
We are so fortunate to have such a lovely view from our gym at the condominium. It definitely brings a nice atmosphere to your workout.
