DAY 20

I... am... exhausted...

        Another amazing day of this challenge, however my PT absolutely murdered me during our session and I am the most physically exhausted I have ever been after exercising. But I am loving all the changes this challenge is bringing to my voice, my body and my soul. I may be exhausted after my workout now, but it is well worth it!

        Amir absolutely slaughtered me tonight. We did the most intense outdoor workout of my life and it did make me push myself further than I thought I could and it has motivated me to be better at it next time. I am so lucky to have a trainer who is so generous with their time and who pushes me to be better and work harder.

DAY 19

Well past half way now!...

        I can't believe how fast the time is going! This challenge has been so inspiring for me and I really don't want it to end. I am discovering so much more about my voice and even just about myself and I feel I have already grown so much in the 2 1/2 week of this journey so far.

        The rap is coming along nicely! I am really thriving off the challenge this song presents. Rapping is not something I had never attempted before learning Superbass and it is now one of my favourite songs to perform. 'Look At Me Now' is now raising the bar for me significantly and it's so much fun to explore an entirely new form of singing. I can't wait until I can nail it and show you all!

This time I made my usual berry protein shake w/frozen berries, skim milk, agavae nectar and flaxseed but instead of using vanilla protein powder, I tried making it with chocolate protein powder... not bad I must say...

DAY 18

I don't want this challenge to end...

         This challenge is providing me we so much purpose and motivation. I have not felt so inspired in my entire life and I don't want this challenge to end. I am seriously considering extending it to be a 60 or 90 day challenge...

         I did alot of work on the rap of look at me now and it was so much fun! I couldn't stop once I started. Tis is going to be a whole lot easier than I initially expected... I may even be able to get a cover of it up by the time I finish my challenge... We will see...

Amanda is such an inspiring coach. She does not only teach about the voice, she gives you such an understanding of your psyche and your intent behind every note you hit and every song you sing. I always walk away from my lessons with her feeling so inspired and I would not be doing the things I am doing today without her guidance and endless encouragement... She is the definition of a mentor...

DAY 17

Another day has passed...



        Today was definitely not the most motivated day. My body is sore all over so I decided to give it a rest even though I originally planned to do two dance classes. I have been unwell so I spent alot of the day resting in the hope of giving my chance a bit more recovery time and it will be straight back into it all tomorrow.

DAY 16

A great day!...

        A very successful day I must say! One live performance in the bag! I had the opportunity to get up on stage and sing a song tonight when we went to see our friends play. It didn't go seemlessly as the bass had a few issues and kept feeding back but it was still great fun none-the-less! Every day that passes I feel more motivated to reach for the stars and I am starting to believe things are possible for me that I before could not see myself doing and I now have the courage to take steps towards those dreams! I booked another photo shoot with my friend Qashrul Hidafi and I have even starting sorting out possibly recording my first malay youtube cover soon. Stay tuned for more updates!

LIVE PERFORMANCE #1
        A few of my friends and I went to watch my friends perform at a local bar tonight and the extremely talented 'Rozy' was ever so lovely as to invite me up to Jam for a song. I decided to sing Superbass because it's so fun to sing and I was only just talking about rapping yesterday on here. I want to say a big thank you to Naza, Dennis & Rozy for letting me jam and for always being so supportive of me and my singing. Here's the video.... (Thanks to Ms Peaches/Petra!)...

        This was delicious! I got this recipe for 'Oatmeal Protein Smoothie' from one of my favourite recipe books; Tosca Reno's The Eat Clean Diet Cookbook! So simple to make!.... 1/4 cup oatmeal, 1tbsp natural peanut butter, 1tbsp agave nectar, 1tbsp flax seed, 1 cup skim milk, 1/2 tsp cinnamon + ice into a blender and BAM! you have yourself a delicious breakfast!

WEIGHT LOSS SINCE STARTING THE CHALLENGE...
        2.9kg in the past two weeks... I'm not complaining!!... I am feeling happier and healthier and stronger... My personal training sessions with Amir are really starting to show and I am addicted. More! More! More!

BODY SCULPTING / FITNESS SESSION #10
        1hr 40mins Personal Training Session w/Amir - Back/Shoulders & Triceps
We did our first session today focussing on just certain muscles and my-oh-my did he kill me! I have never seen my muscles shake so much, but it was awesome. Amir has been so helpful and is even helping me by teaching me whilst he trains me as I am also currently studying to be a personal trainer and he helps to teach me anything I need to know. I can see some changes in my body already and I am loving it. I don't know why I haven't gotten a personal trainer sooner!

DAY 15

The halfway point...

        NOOOOO! It is passing too quickly! I am loving this challenge and I never want it to end! Hahaha. It is just so motivating and inspiring for me and I want these new habits to stick with me long after the challenge is over! .... So I have set myself a new goal... Not sure if I will be able to accomplish it within the remains of the challenge, however, my goal is to soon be able to perform the Karmin version of 'Look At Me Now'.... It's an insanely fast rap, but I think it will be a fabulous task for me seeing I love singing Superbass now that I have the rap down. It has been so many years since I have done a technique class and I actually forgot how much I love it. The class was taught by my friend & colleague Amanda Prosser and she pushed us so hard. I now remember how I used to train every night when I was back in high school. No wonder why I had a good body back then regardless of what I ate. I am so fortunate to have a natural dance ability and I am so glad I have kept my flexibility at it's peak, but now I just need to work on getting some of my technical foundation back. Thank you Amanda for a challenging and motivating evening!

DAY 14

Blocks in the road...

        Unfortunately today I had some form of reaction and my throat swelled to the point of the sides touching each other. Clearly that affects my singing practice as my voice is not really in the best position to be used, however it will not deter me from working on my singing. The amazing Tiffany Lawrence suggested I work on breathing exercises as part of my vocal practice as without breath and breath support we cannot sing. Thanks for giving me something to work on for the day Tiff and for the inspiration!

        I actually found it really interesting to do some breathing exercises, as I would not normally do any and it is part of my singing that I now realise I have completely neglected. Being unwell today showed me that I am truly committed to this challenge, because normally I would have said to myself 'Oh it's okay, I should really rest up' but I surprised myself when I didn't. I found a way to work around my poor health and still stuck to my committment. It was not the greatest singing practice session but we need to have bad practice sessions to know when we are having good ones right!?
